Concerned about the threat of wildfire on Lazy Mountain?

On April 30th, from 7-9 PM the borough will be making a Community Wildfire Protection Plan presentation at the Lazy Mountain Bible Church. The public notice had this to say:

“Come learn about the Lazy Mountain Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) that is being developed by the members of our community and the Mat-Su Borough. A CWPP brings interested community members, fire departments, emergency services and others together for the  benefit of the community.  The completed plan will include sections on fuels reduction, public safety, homeowner responsibilities, equipment requirements, access, signage and other topics important to preventing and reducing the impacts of wildfire.

At the meeting, the plan will be introduced and there will be short presentations on different parts of the plan. After each presentation, we will seek input and comments from community members.  We will be also be asking community members for input on identifying high danger  areas, water sources and safe haven areas. Professionals in emergency services, forestry, public safety, local government and others will be available to answer questions. A CWPP needs local input to be effective, so please come and help the planning process. Fire season is coming! ”
